About Me
Jim Kirchner
I have always been fascinated by the stories, ideas, and experiences that shape the way we live, lead, and work. Through thoughtful reviews and critiques of nonfiction business books, biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs, I explore the lessons, insights, and perspectives that emerge from both personal journeys and professional achievements.
A graduate of Loyola University Maryland (Class of 1981), I bring a lifelong love of reading and a deep curiosity about people and ideas to every review I write. My goal is not simply to summarize books, but to evaluate their arguments, examine their relevance, and help readers decide which titles are worth their time.
Whether I’m reviewing a leadership book, a work on innovation and strategy, the memoir of a public figure, or the biography of a pioneering entrepreneur, I look for the themes that connect us: ambition, resilience, decision-making, leadership, failure, reinvention, and purpose.
The best books do more than inform—they challenge assumptions, spark new thinking, and inspire action. Through candid critiques and balanced analysis, I hope to help readers discover books that offer both practical value and lasting insight.
I also write a monthly column highlighting a new business book or memoir for the Central Penn Business Journal and Lehigh Valley Business.
Thank you for visiting Prose and Cons. I invite you to explore the reviews, share your thoughts, and join me in discovering books that deepen our understanding of business, leadership, and the human experience.
